Judging by the smiles that were painted on the student's faces the following day, the project was a tremendous success.In Lake Worth, Maria Francisco, 18, had an amazing experience at La Fiesta Radio. While the overall plan development of the Task Force continues–Ms. Bagleys vision of a youth empowerment initiative is well underway. A Youth Empowerment Symposium is set for Saturday, April 9, from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at Forest Hill High School which will jump-start an effort to "grow" and develop a network of teen peer mentors across the district. View Full Story »Haitian Students Arriving in Palm Beach County Need Clothing and SuppliesCommunities In Schools of Palm Beach County, Inc. (CISPBC) is receiving requests from local schools for clothing and school supplies for Haitian earthquake survivors. As children are brought from the disaster-torn country into Florida, the first thing they want to do is go to school. Margaret Bagley, Executive Director of CISPBC, witnessed this personally when she dropped off clothing to a new student at Bear Lakes Middle School. "He was so excited about going to school. He could not wait to try on the clothing to be sure they fit. He did not want to miss another day of school." When Bagley checked on the student the following morning, Richard Rahey, Bear Lakes Middle School Counselor who had asked CISPBC for assistance, stated that the student was a pleasure to work with. "He has been through a lot and going to school will bring a bit of normalcy to his life. He is thrilled with his new clothing and his new school!"Bagley stated, "It is wonderful that so many people have assisted the earthquake victims in Haiti. Now it is time to assist the children who are entering the school system in our community."
